About Shelby

Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, my passion for horses has been the guiding force in my life since I could zip up a pair of paddock boots. As a young rider, I made many trips around the equitation ring, where I developed the foundation of my riding skills and a love for precision and technique. In 2014, I began my partnership with Percy, my true horse-of-a-lifetime. He started a journey for me that I could have never envisioned for myself. While he always tried his heart out for me, he just never shown as brightly in the equitation ring as we did in the jumper ring, and eventually, in the dressage ring. Over the years with Percy and developing other young horses, my fascination with flatwork and building the strength and balance of the horse led me to the three rings of eventing, where I’ve truly found my stride.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of riding with some of the best in the industry. These experiences shaped my training philosophy and deepened my commitment to producing confident, capable horses while creating meaningful partnerships with their riders. I have a special place in my heart for Thoroughbreds and young horses, and I love helping them reach their full potential. Developing horse-and-rider combinations that bring out the best in both is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

In addition to my equestrian career, I have pursued many academic goals—earning a bachelor’s degree in geology and a master’s degree in environmental science—but my passion for horses has always been my true calling. I believe in training methods that prioritize the well-being and happiness of each horse, striving to create well-rounded athletes who are not only physically strong but mentally balanced and ready to excel in any discipline. For me, there is nothing more fulfilling than helping horses and riders achieve their best together.
